[Linux] Wayland support
I run GNOME 3.36 on top of Wayland and Arch Linux. I can create meetings and start the screen share with no reported issues, but people who join only see a black screen (plus whatever I have drawn). This is because Screen is trying to use X11 APIs to capture what's on my screen, but things work differently under Wayland so it is not able to capture anything. Here is code that implements screen capture under Wayland for OBS Studio: https://gitlab.gnome.org/feaneron/obs-xdg-portal/-/tree/master . Screen will probably need to do something similar (or wait for Chromium/Electron to support screen capture under Wayland). Screen sharing freezes for some presenters
We're experiencing a problem with screen sharing for some of our employees. When they're presenting, the session may start fine, but at some point it will go to a light blue screen with a spinning icon. Looking at the Pop Activity Monitor during these problems, their "Available Send Bit Rate" value drops from 20,000 to only 1,000. If they restart their computer the problem clears up for a while, but it's happening on a daily basis and becoming a significant problem for productivity.
Screen share freezes requiring share to restart
When sharing my screen with the team my screen will appear to freeze for viewers. I am only aware of this happening when they report the issue to me over the chat at which point I have to stop and start the share again. This will happen every few minutes. I'm using Windows 10 Enterprise v10.0.19043. My laptop is a Dell Precision 5560 and I have an ADSL internet connection @32Mbps down, 8.0Mbps upload speeds and a 15/99ms loaded/unloaded latency ( Fast.com ). My Pop version is "v8.0.73 | v8.0.20 no updates available" I do not experience similar problems with similar software but Pop is mine and my team's favourite!
Stops working when starting to screen share (Mac)
I'm running Pop 8.0.8 on macOS Big Sur. When I start to share my screen the Pop window goes black and I lose the connection to the other participant. I have to restart Pop and then it will happen again any time I try to share my screen.
macOS 14 API Deprecation
In macOS 14 beta 2 there is a notice that POP is using a deprecated API (see attached screenshot). Adding this here just for a heads-up.
[Windows 11] Window resizing itself uncontrollably
Every time that the Pop UI is opened, it starts at normal size in the corner, but the window slowly moves to the top of the screen and continually expands horizontally. This issue is bad enough that it expands off of the screen infinitely. The application becomes effectively unusable after a few seconds of being open. I only have one monitor, so monitor number should not be an issue. It stops expanding when the user clicks into settings, but returning to the home page causes the glitch to resume.
Can't control volume for Pop
I setup the audio settings to use my laptop as a speaker. After connecting and when I change the system volume (Windows 10), the audio volume stays at maximum in Pop. The system volume actually changes, but somehow the volume for sound coming from Pop does not.
Internet speed is throttled when pop is open
My internet speed ( speedtest.net ) is less than 10 Mbps when pop is open (not in call with someone), and immediately jumps back to my ISP limit when pop is closed. I tried playing around with settings within pop, but no success.
Online contacts not showing up as connected or online
Hi, I have installed Pop on two laptops, on one I can see when other people of my people list are online (little blue dot) but on the other laptop all my contacts people appear as offline (although they are online & with Pop running). I am using Windows 10. Any suggestions much appreciated. Thank you.
