Select a single window to screenshare

With large monitors, it's sometimes nice to be able to share just a single window, to better control how legible the screenshare is on the remote end.
It's also nice to not worry about local alerts or browser tabs or other "not really public" information on your screen, when sharing.

We've just released v6.0 today which lets you share a rectangular area of the screen!
I'm marking this as closed since many folks said that they'd be fine with sharing a rectangular area, but I've also created a new feature to track the 'share a window' request. If you're still interested in that, please upvote the following feature request:

Agree, this is a needed option for those that want privacy or for those that just don't want to share all their content. For now, remote control doesn't need to be enabled on window sharing, but can be later on. There could be a warning like "Note: External control only works when you share your whole screen".

I started using a bigger screen (with macbook screen closed on the side) and now I prefer to just share windows instead of the whole screen since I typically divide the one big screen into multiple windows. would be nice to have this feature - I assume the complexity behind this is giving the control only to the shared window, not the whole desktop.

Any update on this? This is still blocking us from using screen

Sharing a rectangular area would also be nice. So I created a separate feature request for that here:

Is there an update on when this might get worked on? lots of us are waiting in the wings to even try adopting this as working with large monitors just doesn't work.

21:9 screen = can't use this app to share and discuss during coding, using google meet until it's possible to share specific window

+1 for this. I have two 4k monitors, and I do a lot of presenting of in-development websites to clients while on calls. Google Meet is ideal for this, as I can select to share _only_ a browser window that I have prepared for the purpose (without any visible bookmark bar, plugins, etc.). I have shortcuts set up to change a given browser window to 720p/1080p sizes.
A lot of the time, my clients are on smaller devices (netbooks, etc.) - sharing a full monitor window is just not practical.
I love the look of Screen, but - as good as it is - it just can't replace Meet for me right now on most occasions without the ability to select a window/area.

Would come in handy, but not prio compared to other usability tweaks.
